Self-Guided Nature Walks
McGill University’s Gault Nature Reserve is located on Mont-Saint-Hilaire and protects more than 1,000 hectares of natural habitats, boasts 25 kilometres of trail network and is open 365 days a year for all visitors to enjoy.
Affiliated with the Faculty of Science, the Gault Nature Reserve’s team is dedicated to offering support for natural science research and teaching, which has been at the heart of the Reserve’s activities for decades.

Itinerary
9:30 a.m.: Departure by bus from the McGill Sports Complex to the Gault Nature Reserve.
10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Explore up to 25 kilometres of nature trails (weather dependent) at your own pace, either alone or with friends. Bring your lunch and enjoy the views!
2:45 p.m.: Departure by bus from the Reverve.
3:45 p.m. (approx.): Arrival at the McGill Sports Complex.
Note: Departure and arrival times are subject to change based on traffic and weather conditions.

Refund policy: An fee of $11.00 will be charged for cancellations requested from Wednesday to Friday before the trip. No refunds will be issued after that.
Preparing for your trip:
- Consult Gault’s website for information about rules and etiquette, appropriate clothing and footwear, hiking trail details, facilities, etc.
- Bring a bag or backpack to carry around your personal items. There is no storage area onsite.
- Bring a lunch, snacks, water and a refillable bottle. There is no cafeteria onsite. One free warm beverage ticket will be given to each participant which can be redeemed in the Alice Johannsen Welcome Centre.
- Since trips will take place in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately for the weather.
- In icy, snowy and/or wet conditions, crampons are strongly encouraged and some trails may be closed or not suggested. They are available for onsite at the Alice Johannsen Welcome Centre for $11.50 ax included.
- ID required for the rental.
- No cash payment will be accepted.
