From first-time skaters to experienced players looking to sharpen their edge, no matter where your hockey journey begins, our goal is simple: to help every player develop the skills, confidence and mindset needed to reach their full potential while staying active and enjoying themselves.

At the McGill Hockey Camp, we believe hockey is a vehicle for building character, teamwork and staying active. When camp ends, players will leave not just as better athletes — but as more confident, disciplined and motivated individuals.

This all-new camp, led by McGill Redbirds and Martlets hockey training staff, players and university-level monitors is open to all kids between the ages of 7 and 12. All skill levels and positions welcome.

We’ll break down the game into teachable skills, helping players improve technique, build confidence and understand how to compete with purpose.

Our on-ice training emphasizes:

  • Skating fundamentals and edge work
  • Puck control and shooting technique
  • Passing and game awareness
  • Position-specific skill development
  • Small-area games to build hockey IQ

Great players aren’t just built at the rink. Between on-ice sessions, campers can socialize and play their favourite games, like soccer, basketball, gagaball and more.

Our camp offers off-ice and classroom-based activities that focus on:

  • Punctuality, preparedness and respect
  • Strength, agility and conditioning
  • Proper nutrition and healthy habits
  • Leadership and sportsmanship
  • Fun and recreation
What to bring:

A hockey gear bag with:

  • Full player or goalie equipment
  • Hockey stick (two if possible)
  • Hockey helmet with cage and name tag
  • Hockey undergarments (two sets for maximum comfort, if possible)
  • Hockey-specific jock strap and neck guard required
  • Water bottle with squeeze top

A backpack with:

  • Healthy, waste-free lunch with three snacks
  • Comfortable, light clothing for off-ice activities
  • Running shoes
  • Sun hat or cap
  • Sunscreen

Important:

  • Please label as many items as possible, including helmets, bags, lunchboxes and hockey sticks with your child’s full name.
  • All equipment and personal items must be brought home at the end of the day.
  • We are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. Therefore, we strongly recommend that valuables be left at home, including electronic devices, jewelry and trading cards.
  • The use of electronic devices such as cell phones, tablets and gaming devices, is not permitted during activities.

8:45 to 11:30 a.m.:

- One 60- to 75-minute off-ice session, including classroom-based and recreational activities

- One 60-minute on-ice session

11:45 to 12:30 p.m.: Lunch

12:45 to 3:30 p.m.

A: Yes. Like other McGill Sport Camps, the McGill Hockey Camp is certified by the Quebec Camp Association (ACQ).

Q: Is parking available during drop-off and pick-up hours?

A: Yes. The Middle Field outdoor parking lot is available. The lot is accessible via the parking lot entrance at the top of University Street. Parent and guardians can use the lot up for up to thirty minutes free of charge.

Instructions:

  • Print the Access Pass sent by email in the welcome letter.
  • Display the pass on your car’s dashboard
  • Take a ticket from the parking ticket terminal on your way in.
  • Insert the ticket into the parking ticket terminal on your way out.

A parking attendant will be onsite to help troubleshoot.

Q: Is public transit accessible close to the McGill Sport Complex?

Yes, the McGill Sports Complex is accessible via the public transit system. Please consult the STM website at stm.info or call 514-786-4636 for the latest updates on Métro/bus routes and schedules.

Q: Is extended day service available?

A: No. This service is not available for hockey camp. Pick-up hours are between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m.

A. The McGill Hockey Camp is open to children between the ages of 7 and 12. Exceptions may apply on a case-by-case basis.

A. To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers, we kindly ask that parents and guardians do not attend on-ice sessions Monday through Thursday. On Friday, the final day of camp, friendly games will take place, and coaches and camp staff look forward to welcoming parents and guardians at that time.
